Nokia’s brand value in 2003

IIPM MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
And if you ever believed in the truth of brand loyalty, wait till you hear this. Nokia’s brand value in 2003 (for the year 2002) was valued at a whopping $30 billion by Interbrand – the sixth largest among all. The very same year, the Finnish giant committed a small folly – it did away with clamp-shell models. Russia holds mammoth reserves of oil & natural gas, and is using them to the hilt to regain its lost position in the global politics. Oil, being the major exported commodity in its trade sheet, makes for a major portion of its foreign exchange earnings. And not only that, Russia under Putin is leaving no stone unturned to use oil as a foreign policy tool, both to browbeat the former Soviet-ruled states and also to forge new alliances with countries like China and Japan. And as predicted, America is surely infuriated with this new found confidence in Russia and Putin’s assertiveness. No wonder one oft en finds US complaining about Putin’s high-handedness in dealing with domestic political opponents and also treating neighbours, like Belarus and Georgia, in a derogatory and condescending manner.
